This powder compact is suitable for modern loose face powder or for use as handbag mirror.
A beautiful Gwenda foil tap flap compact in excellent condition. The foil lid is as vibrant as the day it was made. It shows a delightful romantic scene, a lady in a crinoline dress with her beau. The dress, sky, lake & the beau's hat & coat trimmings finely picked out in beautiful foil. This is such a little treasure! I have included two images of the lid (as the foil is highly reflective) so that you may assess just how good the condition of this antique vanity is. The compact has been very well looked after and I was pleased to find the original tap flap in place as usually these become lost over the passage of time. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The catch is the typical scalloped Gwenda thumb catch. The mirror gives an excellent reflection. The interior is signed 'Gwenda TAP FLAP MADE IN ENGLAND'. The tap flap works perfectly. Just near the thumb catch the compact is inscribed 'LIFT HERE' and an arrow points to the area where you lift to remove the tap flap. The base is a subtle green.
