The lid has hand embroidered flowers on silk which is protected by a celluloid cover. This cover has protected the embroidery so well the lid looks as good as the day it was made. The lid lifts to reveal a good mirror which gives an accurate reflection. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The base is smooth shiny brass which has a few signs of use & this is reflected in the price. This vintage powder compact is suitable for use with modern solid / pressed face powder or as a handbag mirror & it measures 7.5 cm & weighs 79.2 grams.
