A 1950s Stratton novelty dial your own initial powder compact.
What ever your initial is, just insert the key which will turn a disc to display the initial of your choice. The only initials the dial does not have are Q and Z.
The original features are included - presentation box, turning key to change the initials, black felt pouch, puff and sifter.
Trust the makers of the Stratton brand to invent such a fun compact. The model they chose in this instance was a 1950s Scone. This is one of the earliest dial-an-initial compacts. The lid has particularly beautiful guilloche engraving. All clasps, hinges and the dial mechanism work perfectly.
The mirror gives a clear and accurate reflection. The mirror bezel is signed Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND. The inner lid has a square cartouche which contains the Compact-in-Hand logo and the Stratton signature. This compact is fitted with a self-opening inner lid. Tilt the mirror lid back to activate this device which ensures that the powder well lid opens with ease. The base is decorated with the fine spiral. Measures 3" and weighs 107.7 grams.
This compact is suitable for modern loose face powders, as a handbag mirror or cherished collectible.
