A rare & unused 1960s boxed Stratton 'Petite' powder compact. The lid decoration is one that is rarely seen. The enamel is a joy to behold! This model of compact was described by the makers to be 'slim & dainty with a gilt fancy shaped edge'. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The inner lid is decorated with the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo which shows this compact is fitted with an automatic opening lid - just tilt the mirror back to activate it & the inner lid will open. The mirror is excellent & gives a clear accurate reflection. The original box, felt lined pouch, puff & sifter are in place which means this compact may still be used with loose face powder. The original box is also in excellent condition too. The base is decorated with the famous all over star design this information together with the model of compact dates this Stratton 'Petite' to having been made between 1960 - 1965. The compact does not appear to have been used with face powder. From the superb condition of the compact we assume that this has been a collector's piece. Measures almost 2 5/8 inches wide. Weighs 64 grams.
