A gorgeous vintage Stratton compact mirror and perfume bottle cased set. A hard to find mid-century loose powder compact and perfume bottle vanity set in very good condition. The Stratton 'Princess' powder compact has never been used. The lid has a fabulous Catherine Wheel design with a central initial medallion. The interior case is just as beautiful as the pristine exterior. The bevelled mirror has the original mirror stickers. One of them states: 'To open inner door: press mirror-lid gently back; door springs open. To shut: bring mirror lid forward, and press door down. A STRATTON Patent.' The other mirror sticker reads as follows:- 'REAL ENGINE-TURNED FRONT'. The catch and hinge work perfectly. The inner lid has the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo and the Stratton signature engraved on it. The original felt pouch, pristine puff and velour edged sifter are all in place. The powder well is coated with the original layer of clean white enamel. The base has diagonal lines of smooth gold tone stars. Measures 3" and weighs 91.4 grams. The adorable little perfume bottle has an Art Deco inspired design. Like the compact it will never need to be cleaned as the makers coated these items with lacquer. The top unscrews to reveal the attached perfume dropper. We are not sure if the bottle has been used to store perfume. The perfume bottle measures almost 1 3/4" and weighs 33.9 grams.
The interior case is lovely - a silk lined lid signed 'Stratton' in gilt letters. The interior base contains expertly made recesses which hold the items securely in place. The crimson velvet interior is signed 'Stratton'. The exterior of the hard case does look antique.
