An enchanting Melissa loose powder compact made in the 1950s. A really beautiful compact which has a glorious deep golden patina. The lid is set with Lucite dome which houses the most adorable deep crimson Lucite roses, golden & lilac foliage set atop a background of glittering golden foil. In England at this time foil was made from tin. The lid is made even more appealing by a stamped impression of guilloche engraving. The lid opens to reveal a satinized golden interior, an excellent mirror and the sifter. The base is gilt and satinized. A velvet drawstring pouch comes free with this order to keep the compact in good condition. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. This compact is suitable for use with modern loose face powder or as a handbag mirror. Measures 3 1/4 inches diameter. Weighs 94 grams.
