Lucite glitter foil compact mirror 1950s Mascot novelty handbag powder compact
A rare unused Mascot novelty powder compact in superb condition. This is the first time I have seen this compact become available to purchase. Mascot were known for making top quality compacts in the 1950s & this one is no exception. The whole compact is beautiful. Under the Lucite dome are seven shamrocks. This number is considered lucky in many cultures & this number been associated with good fortune since the time of Ancient Greece. The shamrocks are set atop glittering golden foil. The Lucite dome is framed with gilded brass & an engine turned design beneath. The handle is pretty, ornate & functional. On tilting the handle slightly backwards the lid opens to reveal an excellent mirror that gives a perfect reflection. The mirror bezel is marked " MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN." The inner lid is very attractive having a design of parallel lines. It is signed " Mascot ASB."
The original sifter & puff are in place & they are in excellent condition. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The base has a stylish engine turned design made up of tiny diamond shapes.
This is the best Mascot novelty handbag powder compact I have had in my collection.
