Vintage compact mirrors pink 1950s unused Margaret Rose powder compact
This vintage compact is suitable for use with modern loose & pressed / solid face powder or as a handbag mirror.
A delightful mid-century antique! A high quality unused Margaret Rose powder compact. The compact is in superb condition and it is very beautiful. The lid has a silk inlay which has been embroidered by hand. The floral motif is immaculate - pale pink petals, with two tone green foliage and surrounded by gilt silk thread. The inlay is protected by a plastic cover. All the original accessories are present and they are in excellent condition. The original presentation box has a maroon lid with white dots and the base is black. The black pouch has a felt lining. the puff is pale pink silk with a soft fabric base. The instruction leaflet reads as follows - 'CONVERTIBLE COMPACT Margaret Rose FOR SOLID POWDER TAKE OUT RETAINING RING AND SIFTER. INSERT POWDER GODET AND REPLACE RING. MADE IN ENGLAND'. The velour edged sifter is present so this could be used for loose powder as well as solid face powder. The brass retaining ring guarantees the firm placement of powder godets. The mirror is excellent and gives a perfect reflection. the powder well is textured and gilt. The base is satinized and flat - suitable for engraving if desired.
This accessory will never need to be cleaned as the brass is protected with a layer of lacquer which will prevent it from tarnishing.
