Vintage Compact Mirror 1960s Stratton Enamel Bird Series Powder Compact Suitable For Use With Loose And Face Powder
A hard to find and charming mid-century Stratton 'Convertible' Bird Series blue enamel compact. This accessory has never been used with face powder. It has a wonderful and life like hand painted image of a Blue Tit on apple blossom. Such an evocative scene that brings 1960s Britain to mind. The minutely detailed portrait is in low relief and a joy to behold! There isn't any enamel loss or fading. The first two images are showing the reflections of the studio lights. Image six is a dull over head shot so that the enamel may be viewed when not reflecting the surroundings, except for rays of light on the bottom left hand side. This compact comes with the original presentation box, thick good quality black felt pouch, silk and fabric signed puff, velour edged sifter, padded paper insert, inspection docket and instruction leaflet - all of which are pristine and unused. This vanity was coated at the point of manufacture with a layer of transparent enamel which will prevent it from tarnishing. It will retain its good looks and never need to be cleaned. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives a good, accurate & clear reflection. The base is decorated with smooth gold tone stars on an engine background and signed 'Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND'.
This vintage compact measures 3 " & weighs 75 grams.
This compact is suitable for use with modern loose face powder as well as compressed powder, such as Max Factor 'Creme Puff', Rimmel 'Stay Matte', Miss Beauty and Constance Carroll CCUK.
