This is the most luxurious set! A top of the range cased Stratton compact and lipstick holder set made in the early 1960s. This set comes with the original outer Stratton box and the most exquisitely beautiful presentation case. The hard presentation case is clad in midnight blue fabric with embroidered turquoise bluebells. Open the case to find a blue enamel Stratton '10-Sided Convertible' which has a wonderful floral decoration in white, gold and the palest blue. The lipstick holder has a matching decoration and both items are in super condition, never having been used. To say we are delighted to have this piece in the collection is an understatement. It is gorgeous! The original pouches for both items are made from thick good quality felt. The compact has the original silk topped fabric puff, which is signed 'Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND'. The presence of the original velour edged sifter means that this compact can be used will all brands of loose face powder. Once the sifter is removed all standard sizes of powder pans will fit.
For example: Max Factor 'Creme Puff', Rimmel 'Stay Matte', Constance Carroll CCUK and Miss Beauty.
All hinges and clasps work perfectly. The compact has a perfectly clear mirror. The mirror bezel is signed 'Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND'. The powder well is coated with pristine matte white enamel. The base of the compact is decorated with stars. The lipstick holder is just adorable and very beautiful. It is signed 'Stratton No 2' in elegant script. The original lipstick shaped instruction leaflet is in place.
The compact measures 3 1/4" and weighs 91.4 grams. The lipstick holder measures 2" and weighs 9.7 grams.
The interior of the case can be removed so that it can serve as a jewellery / jewelry case. The base of it is stamped 'PAT. APP. FOR' in gilt lettering.
