Rare Stratton Piccadilly Loose Powder Compact
Rare Stratton powder compact. This loose powder compact is a rare enamel vanity which the makers named the 'Stratton Piccadilly.'
More compacts mirrors and hallmarked silver vanities.
This is a hard to find compact mirror as there were only two known years of availability for the 'Piccadilly', which were 1959 & 1960. This highly collectible compact mirror is in excellent condition. The lid is decorated with beautiful floral bouquets surrounded with gilt accents. This scarce compact has the unique design of the lucky four leaf clover. It is the only Stratton model of this shape. It is such a thrill to find this compact with the original presentation box, black felt pouch, signed puff, velour edged sifter and paper Stratton rosette guarantee. The pouch, puff, sifter and rosette are pristine with no traces of face powder. The presentation box is still in good condition. The mirror gives an excellent clear and accurate reflection. The inner lid is fitted with an automatic opening mechanism which works perfectly. Tilt the mirror lid back slightly and the inner lid pops open. This invention was patented by the makers of the Stratton brand to prevent ladies from breaking their nails when accessing the powder well. The compact is signed 'Stratton' in a square cartouche which also features the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo. The underside of the inner lid is coated with golden satinized enamel . The base is decorated with the fine spiral. This vintage compact mirror measures 3" & weighs 92.2 grams.
This compact is suitable for use with all brands of loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
