Stratton Compact Mirror Black Basalt Ten Sided Convertible 1960s
This is such a beautiful Stratton Ten-Sided Convertible compact mirror which is fitted with a black basalt plaque commissioned by the makers of the Stratton brand and supplied by Josiah Wedgwood Ltd.
The known years of availability for this model is 1962-1968.
However, the large majority of these were not adorned with black basalt.
This material was one of Josiah Wedgwood's favourite 'ceramic bodies'.
Wedgwood described it as ‘The Black is sterling, and will last forever.’
The striking gold floral decorations contrast beautifully with the black basalt.
There isn't any loss of design or basalt.
The catches and hinges work perfectly.
The mirror gives a good and accurate reflection.
The base is signed Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND.
The whole piece is in good condition.
The original sifter and black felt pouch are present.
Measures 8 cm diameter. Weighs 109.5 grams.
