The compact is suitable for use with loose and pressed / solid face powder or as a handbag mirror. The set comprises of a beautiful Stratton 'Convertible' powder compact and matching lipstick holder. These accessories are decorated with high quality lustrous cobalt blue enamel with diamond cut gilded floral motifs. The original signed Stratton luxury puff, sifter, padded paper insert and lipstick sticker are included. Both the compact and lipstick are in super condition and the original presentation box is also very good too. The vintage Stratton brand has a huge and loyal following and this is completely understandable when we see pieces like these.
The original presentation case is made from cream and gold high quality card and looks like it has spent half a century in a presentation cabinet. The case is signed "Stratton" in golden script.
The compact mirror gives an excellent clear and accurate reflection. All clasps and hinges work perfectly on both items. The powder well wall bears the patent reference "PAT. 762412". The base is decorated with the all over star design. The rectangular cartouche is signed "Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND".
The lipstick holder is signed 'Stratton' just next to the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo. The outer lipstick holder is decorated with a linear design which prevents the appearance of fingerprints. The case bears the patent number '731015'. The mirror of the lipstick holder has slight age related marks at the outer edge, but nothing that will detract from the enjoyment of this vanity set.
The Stratton 'Convertible' powder compact measures 3" and weighs 96.3 grams.
The lipstick holder measures 3" and weighs 49 grams.
