Solid silver compacts Saigon sterling dragon compact 1940s
An unusual sterling silver compact mirror made in Saigon c.1940. The lid shows the most gorgeous hand engraved dragon in low relief surrounded by clouds. This exquisite compact has scalloped edges & engraved flowers/foliage in each of the twenty sections. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives a good reflection. There are some age related marks on the mirror which is no way detract from the piece they add to the antique feel of this vanity. The base is engraved with a delightful scene - please see image four. The hallmark just above the thumb catch is so worn it is hard to see. We have included an image of the maker's mark - see the last product image.
This sterling silver compact measures 7 cm & weighs 55.1 grams.
