This rare and delightful Stratton Miraclean Small is presented with the original pouch, puff and sifter. The lid has the most attractive and complex engine turned design which also features an oblong cartouche that could bear the monogram of the recipient, if so desired. This piece has the most delightful golden patina. It will never need to be cleaned nor will it tarnish, as the manufacturing process involved coating the whole item with a layer of lacquer.
The mirror bezel is signed Stratton in elegant script. The base of the bezel is engraved with a series of patent numbers which the makers registered to protect the design of this interesting vanity. The internal case features a mirror wiping mechanism. A gleaming brass bar with a felt lined back wipes the mirror to ensure it remains clean. The mirror is excellent giving a clear and accurate reflection.
This compact mirror is also fitted with a self-opening inner lid - tilt the mirror back and the inner lid will open to reveal the powder well. The puff is decorated with the Compact-in-Hand logo and the Stratton signature in gilt. The powder well has a protective coat of white enamel. The underside of the inner lid is gilded. The neatly sewn pouch is pristine and the interior is lined with black felt. The base is engraved with fine lines that give the appearance of a ribbed surface. This powder compact is suitable for all loose face powders. Measures 2 5/8 " x 2 3/8". Weighs 77.3 grams.
