Rare Stratton Queen with complete inner lid King Louis Henri III

Number eight in our all time Top Twenty Stratton Powder Compacts. 

The most superb enamel Stratton " Queen." Just about everybody is familiar with the Stratton " Queen Convertible " that had a production run of of four decades but this is a " Queen " with a complete inner lid. The known years of availability are 1957 & 1958.  The presence of a complete inner lid in a " Queen " is described as very rare by the most respected Stratton expert,  Juliette Edwards. This is just wonderful , even the costumes are accurate & the compact oozes quality & it is in perfect working order. The enamel is very detailed & it is such a charming and romantic scene. The whole compact is superb & there is no enamel loss whatsoever. We have only ever seen two "Queens with full inner lids" with this scene. However, both were different in a way as this has a uniform crackle glaze all over the enamel . Surrounding the gorgeous enamel is high quality brass which has stylized roses, leaves & the most delightful decorations. The lid opens to reveal an excellent beveled mirror with the original sticker in place.The mirror bezel is marked " MADE IN ENGLAND."  The inner lid is signed " Stratton " & shows the " Compact-in-Hand " logo. This mechanism works perfectly every time. The original sifter is present & also a very unusual Stratton puff. The base is decorated with the all over star design.

 This highly collectible powder compact measures 3 1/2 and weighs 129.3 grams.
