A rare and delightful Stratton musical powder box with a lovely cobalt blue enamel lid which is decorated with beautiful birds which look like eastern bluebirds or an artistic interpretation of nuthatches.
It is the first time we have had a bird series Stratton Musica in the collection. The music box is in excellent condition and the music plays very well. The tune is I Could Have Danced All Night. This famous tune from the 1956 Lerner & Loewe stage musical My Fair Lady was hugely popular. This music box is fitted with a highly reliable Reuge Swiss musical movement. The mirror gives a good clear reflection. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The interior case is signed Stratton. The original puff and sifter and a pouch are included. The base is decorated with the feathers design reserved for the luxury range of Stratton brand accessories. Measures 3 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches and weighs 158.3 grams.
