The artisans that worked for Dorothy Gray were of the highest calibre and this brand is known for the inventive quirky vanities offered for sale. This is the first one of this model we have found available for sale. The lid is gorgeous - satinized brass and higher copper content brass too, providing a subtle contrast. The stylish catch forming the middle of the rainbow, above this in low relief a semi-circle - the arc of the rainbow and above this engraved semi-circles at the base of these pink, blue and green lozenges giving a hint of the vibrancy of a rainbow. The interior just as delightful - gilded satinized brass in excellent condition. The case is signed "Dorothy Gray NEW YORK PARIS" and stamped "MADE IN U.S.A." near the hinge. Both puffs are present and still with the Dorothy Gray signatures visible. The puffs like the whole item are in good condition. The rouge is unused and still has the protective film covering it. The mirror is good and gives an accurate reflection. The base has an engine turned design of horizontal lines. Measures 8.6 cm x 6.3 cm & weighs 108.2 grams.
