The most beautiful iridescent mother of pearl you could imagine adorns the lid of this 1960s Stratton "Princess" powder compact. The whole compact is in excellent condition. The brass gleams and as it was coated at the point of manufacture with a layer of lacquer it will never tarnish or need to be cleaned. The mirror gives a very good clear reflection. This compact is fitted with the Stratton patented self-opening inner lid. Tilt the mirror back slightly to activate the opening mechanism. This mechanism was invented to prevent ladies from damaging their nails when opening the inner lid to install powder. The gilt inner lid is decorated with an engine turned design of fine lines and tiny chevrons and signed "Stratton" with in an oval cartouche. The base is decorated with the all over star design and signed "Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND".
This Stratton powder compact measures 3" and weighs 99.1 grams.
