Mappin & Webb Sterling Silver Loose Powder Compact 1969

Regular price £925.00

A superb Mappin & Webb sterling silver loose powder compact, which was  crafted in 1969. This exquisitely beautiful fully hallmarked sterling silver and guilloche enamel compact mirror is decorated with the most quintessentially English hand painted floral bouquet. Red, pink & yellow poppies interspersed with golden ears of wheat in colours as vibrant as the day they were painted! The whole piece is in excellent condition. The interior contains a mirror which gives a clear and accurate reflection. The vermeil powder well is stamped with hallmarks which are easy to read, as they are not worn. The hinge and thumb catch work perfectly. The base is engraved with minute diamond shapes. This high quality vanity measures 3" and weighs 106.8 grams. The original sifter is present and so this compact is suitable for all loose face powder or as a handbag mirror. An immaculate black pouch made from good quality felt is included with this item.
