Extremely Rare Olfa Powder Compact c.1940
An extremely rare Olfa vintage powder compact made in France c. 1940. We have only ever seen this one & this brand is sought-after. The lid is enchanting - engraved on it are four butterflies flying over a pond with bulrushes. Superbly well made & obviously a vanity from a luxury brand the lid opens to reveal a bevelled mirror, a lipstick holder & inner inner lid engraved with an intricate guilloche design. The mirror gives an accurate reflection & has some age related haze which in no way detracts from the appeal of this one of a kind vanity. The inner lid is gilded & the high quality sifter (gauze) is gilded too. The sifter is in such good condition this compact could still be used today with loose powder. There is also a compartment for your lipstick too. The base has such a gorgeous Art Deco design of vertical wavy lines. All clasps & hinges work perfectly.
This rare vintage compact measures 8.5 cm X 7.3 cm & weighs 154.8 grams.
