The lid & base are silver plated. The lid is satinized & beautiful flowers & foliage adorn the compact. The background lid decoration is an etched design that the makers called 'Linen' & it does look just like linen. The delicate & charming pastel colours make for a charming vintage gift. This is a high quality Stratton compact in excellent condition with the original felt pouch, silk puff & sifter. The lid lifts to reveal an excellent mirror with a frosted glass border. The mirror is surrounded by a golden bezel. The original mirror sticker is in place 'SILVER PLATED LID & BASE'. The base is signed "Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND" & decorated with vertical lines & tiny chevrons. Please excuse the shadows on image five. The silver plated base is highly reflective. 

This compact is suitable for both modern loose & pressed face powders or as a handbag mirror. For example:- Rimmel Stay Matte, Max Factor Creme Puff and Constance Carroll.

Measures almost 3 1/2" & weighs 104.1. grams.
