A gorgeous boxed Stratton Persian themed Pontoon loose powder compact with all the original accessories. Jarrett, Rainsford & Laughton Ltd., the owners of the Stratton brand, produced a series of vanities decorated with Persian designs.

The horsemen are playing polo on a gleaming golden background. Polo originated in Persia. It is said that the game was a form of training for cavalry units and elite troops. Eventually polo became a national sport in Persia and was played by the nobility prior to the upheaval seen in the region since the 1970s.
The inner lid is a delightful engine turned design with a golden lacquered finish. The catch is stamped with the patent number 530653. This patent refers to the snap catch. This model has the original felt lining in the powder well which means no sifter is needed. The original gorgeous royal blue felt pouch, puff and presentation box are present. The base of the compact has an engine turned design of horizontal lines which is typical for this model. There aren't any traces of powder. The catches and hinges work exactly as they should. The mirror gives a good clear reflection. The mirror frame is signed STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND. Measures 3 inches long x 2 1/2 inches wide. Weighs 103.4 grams.
