This elegant slimline vintage compact mirror was crafted in the 1950s. We are so delighted to find this vanity in the original box with all the original accessories, which are styled to enhance the beauty of the facet cut jewel. The lid is engraved with an Art Deco inspired rising sun design. The mount is set with marcasite (pyrite) stones - all are present. The whole compact is crafted from gleaming lacquered brass with a deep golden patina which will not tarnish or need to be cleaned. The mirror gives a clear and accurate reflection. There are a couple of hard to see marks on the mirror which do not detract from the enjoyment of this accessory. The original mirror sticker is in place. This too is colour coordinated with the light blue accessories. The mirror sticker reads STRATTON hand engine turned COMPACT. The compact is signed STRATTON on the mirror bezel and inner lid. The bezel is also stamped PAT. No 562662. An automatic opening inner lid ensures ease of access. The original leaflet describes how to use this mechanism. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The stylish light blue fabric felt lined pouch and puff are made from the same blue material. The base has a horizontal linear design. The compact is in very good condition. The thumb catch and inner lid catches bear the patent number 530653. The original box has the item code 0W/255 hand written on the base. Measures 8 cm x 5.4 cm. Weighs 101.8 grams.
