The compact has a engine turned border surrounding a pictorial inlay which shows HM Queen Elizabeth II looking radiant - resplendent in her fine pale yellow dress trimmed with pale blue and her fabulous jewellery. Her blue ceremonial sash adorned with her superb Order of the Garter Star. The pictorial inlay and the whole compact are in very good condition. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The whole item has a deep rich golden patina you would expect to see on a collectible that is over sixty years old. The lid opens to reveal a golden mirror bezel and a good mirror which gives a clear and accurate reflection. The mirror has a few tiny age related marks which in no way spoil the enjoyment of this powder compact. The original card edged sifter is present and it is in good condition. The powder well is lined with the original protective paper cover. The base is decorated with beautiful guilloche engraving. Measures 7.5 cm diameter. Weighs 52.1 grams.
