1950s Regent of London Powder Compact Romantic Compact Mirror
A romantic and highly collectible Regent of London powder compact in excellent condition. The enchanting bone china lid is adorned with a romantic scene. A gentleman is declaring his love. The couple are wearing attire that you would have expected to see worn by the well heeled in the reign of George II. The delightful silhouette is made even more charming by the golden enamel which is minutely decorated. The brass surrounding the bone china plaque is engraved and coated with golden enamel as is the base. All clasps and hinges work very well. The mirror gives a clear and accurate reflection. It has one tiny age spot on the mirror, which does not detract from the item at all. The mirror bezel is signed 'REGENT OF LONDON'. The inner lid has an ornate and beautiful engine turned design. The powder well is coated with a layer of white enamel. The compact comes with the original felt pouch and sifter. This powder compact was coated with a layer of lacquer at the point of manufacture which means it will not tarnish or need to be cleaned.
This vintage powder compact is suitable for use with loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
The compact measures 7 cm and weighs 74.4 grams.
