Rare Refillable Vintage Stratton Lipstick Compact Dancing Scenes
A wonderful rare vintage Stratton Lipstick Compact adorned with a lid decoration the makers described as Dancing Scenes - the work of the artist Flory Mackay.
The Stratton Lipstick Compact (different lid decorations) has only two known years of availability, 1957 and 1958.
Those models embellished with Dancing Scenes are rarely found available for sale.
Needless to say we are thrilled to have this highly collectible accessory in our collection.

case to take any lipstick refills in 11 and 13 mm. The one
Illustrated is decorated with Dancing Scenes on satin gilt

This delightful vanity features Piccadilly Circus, London on the lid.
All the brass is lacquered and so it will not tarnish or need to be cleaned.
The whole piece is delightful.
Such an enchanting representation of the night life in mid-century London - showgirls in their finery, people dining / dancing, balloons, stars, ballet shoes, musical notes, cafes, bars and what is known as the statue of Eros, which is actually The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, a winged statue of Anteros (Eros' brother) set atop.
In Greek mythology Anteros was the god of requited love, literally love returned.
There isn't any loss of design.

The golden mirror frame is signed STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND.
All clasps and hinges work perfectly.
The lovely good quality wool felt and sifter are present.
