A rare & beautiful French celluloid compact with a romantic pastoral scene on the lid.
This compact is suitable for use with loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
The lid decoration is in excellent condition & there is no loss of design.
The edges & base have the most wonderful marbled effect.
The mirror gives a good and accurate reflection.
The mirror bezel & the brass surrounds of the lid & base are gilt.
The powder well is stamped 'MADE IN FRANCE'.
The original sifter is in place & it is in very good condition.
All clasps & hinges work perfectly.
The base has a slight dimple which is difficult to see because of the marbled effect.
Measures 3 inches diameter. Weighs 51.8 grams.
