A brief introduction to Mappin & Webb Ltd.
Queen Victoria granted a royal warrant to Mappin & Webb in 1897 which was the year of The Queen’s diamond jubilee. And since then the silversmiths has held a royal warrant to each of the five subsequent sovereigns. In 2012 Martin Swift who is one of the craftsman at Mappin & Webb was also appointed The Crown Jeweller. Their association with royalty continues. They were taken over by Asprey & Co. in the 1980s. The Company is now a brand owned by the Jewellers Goldsmiths group. Today Mappin & Webb currently holds the Royal Warrant as Silversmiths to HM The Queen and to HRH The Prince of Wales.
In 2015 a sterling silver statue of The Duke of Wellington is commissioned by the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards to commemorate Waterloo the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.
In 2016 one hundred years after its first issue, Mappin & Webb reintroduces the legendary Campaign watch to honour the sacrifice of servicemen past and present.
