Unused Vintage Japanese Powder Compact Gold And Silver Plated

A beautiful unused mid-century powder compact. This enchanting piece was made in Japan. This part of the world famed for its highly skilled artisans who produced the most ornate chokin adornments. This powder compact is in super condition. The original unused signed puff, sifter, spacer rings and felt pouch are present. The lid is adorned with gold and sterling silver and so this would be an ideal silver or golden wedding anniversary gift for her.

The lid decoration is a finely crafted oriental scene showing a magnificent peacock and peahen on a silver background. To the left and right of the scene are elaborate oriental blooms adorned with silver, gold and rose gold.  All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The lid lifts to reveal an excellent mirror which gives a good and accurate reflection.

This compact is suitable for all loose foundation and solid face powder pans measuring up to 69 mm diameter.

The base is a flat surface decorated with a very subtle engraved spiral. This surface would be ideal for engraving. Measures 7.7 cm diameter. Weighs 86.4 grams.

This compact is ideal for use with loose or compressed face powder or as a handbag mirror.
