Large Unused Stratton MUFFIN Makeup Compact For Loose Foundation 1948 1952 1953
A magnificent unused Stratton Muffin compact for all loose face powder, including bareMinerals original mineral foundation.
The original mirror sticker describes the lid as -
STRATTON hand engine turned COMPACT
Such splendid workmanship! The lid features a blank central circular cartouche and exceptionally beautiful guilloche engraving. It is hard to find this model in this condition with all the original accessories.
The Muffin only has three known years of availability - 1948, 1952 and 1953.
The mirror gives a good clear reflection. The mirror frame and inner lid are signed Stratton. The gilded brass was lacquered during the manufacturing process and so it will not require any cleaning to retain its prepossessing appearance.
The pristine rosette, pouch, puff and sifter are present. The puff is unusual - the softest wool lines the underside. The top is pale yellow with green foliage and pink petals.
The box is just delightful! The item code is written in neat characters - 596/ET. The presentation box is covered with pale blue pearlized paper which has the impressed brand names owned by the makers, who were known as Jarrett, Rainsford & Laughton Ltd. at this time.
The brand names Stratton, Stratnoid, Expanda, Gilda, Studiette, Lady Jayne, Velva are arranged in patterns on the lid and base of the presentation box.
The compact is in super unused condition. Measures 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) diameter and weighs 135.4 grams.
