1950s Unused Stratton Compact And Lipstick Tube Set Bird Series Flying Ducks
A beautiful unused Stratton compact and lipstick tube set. This 1950s vanity set comes with the original presentation box, luxury puff, velour edged sifter, both pouches, instruction leaflets and padded cushion insert. The makers named this design Flying Ducks. The cobalt blue enamel is enchanting. There isn't any enamel loss and both items are in very good condition. The mirror gives a good and accurate reflection. The mirror bezel is signed STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND.
Back in the day these sets were very expensive and given on special occasions like a young lady's twenty first birthday. This is reflected in the high quality materials the makers used. The base of the compact has the all over star design.
The Stratton Convertible powder compact measures 3 inches diameter and weighs 94.4 grams.
All loose face powder is suitable for this compact. Max Factor, Rimmel, Constance Carroll and Miss Beauty pressed foundation will fit this compact.
The lipstick holder is just delightful - very beautiful and made with great attention to detail.
The original instruction leaflet in the shape of a red lipstick instructs the new owner to:- Insert into this base your complete Lipstick Refill. If it fits loosely, slightly push inwards the three LARGE 'U' SHAPED PRONGS to ensure firm grip.
The other side of the card reads as follows - The Stratton LIPSTICK HOLDER. The end of the lipstick holder is signed Stratton No.2. It measures almost 2 1/4 inches long and weighs 10.3 grams.
