Antique Solid Gold Swallow Locket Safe Journey Talisman
A superb fully hallmarked gold locket crafted by one of our favourite locket makers, Albert Ernest Jenkins. The images really do not do this piece justice. This antique has a lustrous sheen and intense gold colour which the camera has not managed to capture. The exterior case is decorated with garlands of flowers and swallows.
In the Victorian & Edwardian eras jewellery adorned with swallow motifs was given to ladies who were about to set out on a journey. The swallow is a lucky talisman to protect those who love to travel ensuring their safe journey home.
This high quality antique keepsake locket was assayed* (tested for gold purity*) at Birmingham Assay Office. The original frames, card backings, watered silk linings and clear portrait protectors are present. The catch and hinge work perfectly.
