A splendid, rare and gorgeous vintage powder compact! 

The 1957 catalogue price list published by Kigu Ltd. lists two sizes of Map of World compacts. The smaller one is given the description below:

The price list does not include any variations of this model but we know that there are high sheen versions of this compact which are finished in highly reflective gold tone. There are other versions of this model which have the seas distinguished from the land masses with a type of cross hatch engraved design. 
                                                                                                                                            
This compact is another version which we have not seen before. The highly durable satin background has a matte finish which is very pleasing to the eye. Highly detailed and accurate this wonderful vanity is presented with the original Kigu signed puff and sifter. The felt pouch is also included. The mirror gives a good and accurate reflection. All clasps and hinges work exactly as they should. The inner lid is embellished with stylish guilloche engraving and the Kigu trademark. The famed Kigu all gilt jeweller's finish will prevent tarnishing. This highly collectible vintage vanity will retain its prepossessing appearance without any need for cleaning. Measures almost 3 inches diameter. Weighs 89.8 grams.
