Art Nouveau Solid Gold Locket Necklace 1915 Golden Wedding Gift
A delightful diamond shaped fully hallmarked gold locket which was assayed* (tested for gold purity*) at Glasgow Assay Office in 1915. The exterior case of this Art Nouveau portrait locket is embellished with ivy and acanthus leaves and a shield shaped cartouche.
The shield motif conveys the desire to protect. Acanthus leaves symbolise everlasting life. Ivy leaves represent the strong bonds of friendship, marriage and family.
The portrait compartments are fitted with gorgeous chartreuse watered silk linings. One side of the portrait compartments is fitted with a clear portrait protector and the original removable frame. The hinge and catch work perfectly.
This locket is ideal to store keepsake mementos such as locks of hair, portraits or photographs.
