Antique Hallmarked Gold Mourning Locket With 18 Inch 9ct Gold Chain
A splendid and superior quality fully hallmarked gold mourning locket which was crafted by J W Tiptaft & Son Ltd. This World War I era locket was assayed* (tested for gold purity*) at Birmingham Assay Office in 1918. Both sides of the locket are embellished with highly symbolic ivy leaves.
Ivy leaves represent fidelity, love and eternal life.
The interior case is fitted with black moire linings and so photographs or locks of hair will be easy to attach.
The catch and hinge work perfectly.
