An antique powder compact made by Coty in the 1930s. The lid decoration is superb. The background is butterfly wing and the iridescence is something to be seen! In the foreground the silhouette of a Rio beach scene. The isn't any loss of design or fading. The ancient brass case has a deep patina and this is a charming collectible. It comes with the original powder plate which still has the original sticker on the base.

The gilded interior contains a mirror which gives a good and accurate reflection as well as the original puff which is signed 'Coty'. The base of the compact is signed 'COTY PARIS' and decorated in gilt undulating waves. There is some tarnish on the base which I will leave. Measures slightly over 2 inches diameter. Weighs 37.7 grams.
