This compact is named the Stratton Muffin and it is part of the Old China range, which is sometimes known as the Worcester China range. This powder compact is ideal as an addition to any collection or for use with loose foundation or as a stylish handbag mirror. This compact model (with different lid adornments) has only three known years of availability - 1948, 1952 and 1953.
All the original accessories are present - Old China range booklet, presentation box, sifter, puff, guarantee rosette and navy blue felt lined pouch.
The compact lid is adorned with beautiful enamel which was named Four Panels by the maker. This design was inspired by a Royal Worcester cup and saucer in the Sevres style c.1770 -1780. The base is also enamelled. The compact was lacquered during the manufacturing process and so it will not tarnish or need to be cleaned. The interior case contains an excellent clear mirror framed by a bezel signed STRATTON. The inner lid is also signed Stratton. The compact is fitted with an automatic opening inner lid which works perfectly, as do all hinges and catches. Measures 3 1/2 inches diameter and weighs 132.2 grams.
