Elegant Gilt Handbag Mirror Unused Vintage Stratton Loose Foundation Compact Mirror 1950s
An elegant gilt handbag mirror. This lovely vintage Stratton loose foundation compact mirror has not been used. It was crafted by the premier British maker in the 1950s and named the Star. The compact bears a resemblance to a suitcase. The exterior case is decorated with an engine turned design. The compact is in very good condition.
The interior case contains a mirror which gives a good and accurate reflection. The original mirror sticker is in place.
The round blue sticker has these words printed on it -
STRATTON hand engine turned COMPACT
The mirror bezel and inner lid are signed Stratton. All the original accessories are present - box, grey felt pouch, signed leatherette puff, sifter and paper instruction leaflet. All catches and hinges work perfectly. The original presentation box is stamped with brand names owned by the company Velva, Stratton, Stratnoid, Gilda and Lady Jayne. The item code 555 is written on the base of the box. Measures 8 cm x 5.6 cm. Weighs 101.9 grams.
This compact is ideal for use with loose foundation, as a handbag mirror or treasured collectible.
The maker applied a coat of clear lacquer which will prevent tarnishing and so this accessory will not require any cleaning to maintain its beautiful appearance.
