An exceptionally rare heart shaped fully hallmarked sterling silver and blue guilloche enamel powder compact. This piece was crafted by the highly prestigious maker Broadway & Co. We have never seen this style of sterling silver and enamel compact mirror before. The lid and base of this exquisitely beautiful accessory are heart shaped. The guilloche enamel is absolutely delightful - baby blue at the pointed end of the heart grading to the lightest blue at the top. A hand chased border completes the enchanting design. There isn't any enamel loss, dings or damage. The compact does not look as though it has been used with face powder. This rare collector's piece is completely sound with a double thumb catch, sturdy hinge and attractively engraved inner lid which is held in place by a sliding catch. The mirror gives an excellent clear and accurate reflection. The puff and sifter are present. An immaculate velvet pouch is included. The compact is hallmarked B & Co into an oval (Broadway & Co), Birmingham Assay Office, lion passant (sterling silver) and the date year 1950 (A). Measures 3 inches wide and weighs 111.8 grams.
