This compact is one of the earliest 'Queen Convertible' models and it is superb. This lid decoration is seldom seen and no two are alike and so it is very appealing. It has spent the last 63 years in the original box in its thick black felt pouch. The original pristine puff, sifter and instruction leaflet are present. The original presentation box is in good condition and has some nice details on the base. The item code '385/650' is stamped on the exterior base and also some handwriting-'W/WO/N'. The interior lid reads as follows: 'Stratton "CONVERTIBLE" COMPACT FOR SOLID MAKE-UP OR LOOSE POWDER'. The catches and hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent and finished off nicely with a frosted border. Gleaming, clean and exceptionally pretty, this accessory is ready to use with all loose powder and standard sizes of face powder measuring 67 mm diameter. The compact measures 3 1/4" and weighs 101.8 grams.
