A Stratton 'Punt' powder compact in good condition. The known years of availability for this model of Stratton compact are 1940 & 1952. The lid is inspired by the Art Deco era & what a stylish design - fine horizontal lines & then a shiny gold tone border with an oblong cartouche with etched design on either side. The double thumb catch ensures ease of opening. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent & gives a perfect reflection. The mirror bezel & powder well are gilded. The bezel is inscribed 'STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND'. The original sifter is in place which means this compact may still be used with loose face powder. The base is typical of those on the Stratton 'Punt' model - engine turned fine & thick vertical lines.
It measures 2 3/8" X 2 1/4" & weighs 62.6 grams.
