A fully hallmarked sterling silver match book holder made by Hasset & Harper Ltd.

The case was assayed at Birmingham in 1928. The lid is hallmarked " lion D " & the base " H & H L D anchor lion D ". The lid is decorated with the initials " J R " in fine script. The scroll like engraving could be also read as " J B ". All clasps & hinges work well & the case does not have any dings, although it does have signs of use. The inner case still retains the gilding. It is a rich dark gold & in very good condition. Measures 6 cm X just over 4 cm.
