Extremely Rare Unused Vintage Stratton Powder Compact Wild Flower Still Life Design 1948
An extremely rare unused vintage Stratton powder compact. This stunning collectible is a model known as the Stratton Scone without Inner Lid crafted c. 1948. Some of these models were decorated with silk lids rendered to have the appearance of a highly textured oil painting. This is one such vanity. The lid is absolutely divine! In a Wedgwood vase gorgeous English wild flowers have been placed in an enchanting arrangement. Centaurea, ox-eye daisies, buttercups, cornflowers and convolvulus form such an appealing display. There isn't any loss of design. This special vanity has been a cherished collector's piece since its creation. It has not been used. The original sifter, pouch and puff are present. The puff is also rare. It has scalloped edges and the leatherette top is decorated with an ancient English warship and the Stratton signature. The mirror gives a good clear reflection. The mirror bezel is signed STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND. The powder well is typical for this model. The base is decorated with a fine spiral. All in super unused condition. I have not been able to capture the true vibrancy of the flowers. Measures 7.5 cm diameter and weighs 63.5 grams. Please excuse the light shining on the lid decoration.
