Rare Art Deco Hallmarked Silver Powder Box Victor Mayer Faberge Workmaster

£0.00

We have run out of stock for this item.

This exquisitely beautiful and stylish authentic Art Deco vanity was made by Victor Mayer who was a Faberge work master. This firm was located in Pforzheim - the gate way to the Black Forest. This city is famous as center of jewellery making - so much so that it was known colloquially as Goldstadt ('Golden City'). The name of Victor Mayer is well known for its luxurious ultra vanities, high end jewellery and the exceptionally skilled workmanship as we see in this adorable Art Deco powder compact.

This compact is made from higher grade silver than sterling. The case is fully hallmarked 935 silver and bears the maker's mark too. The lid has the most stylish Art Deco design of two royal blue enamel panels and in the middle light cadmium red enamel divided by two 935 silver borders. This supremely stylish accessory is decorated with guilloche engraving on all sides and the base. A tiny double thumb catch ensures ease of opening. The compact is in very good condition. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives a good accurate reflection. The mirror has a few subtle age related marks that in no way spoil the enjoyment of this rare antique accessory. An immaculate velvet drawstring pouch is provided to protect the compact. Measures 5 cm x 3.4 cm and weighs 34.6 grams.
