This powder compact is suitable for modern loose face powder or for use as handbag mirror.
We are so delighted to find the original advertisement in the Kigu archive for this vanity set. Part of the 'Compacts of Character' range by Kigu. The set comprises of three accessories all decorated with the Kigu 'Catherine-wheel' all gilt design. All in superb condition. Kigu described the presentation case as being lined in satin and velvet. The satin lid contains the two original elasticated straps to hold the comb and comb holder in place. To the upper left we can see the gilt Kigu triangular registered trademark and to the right of the comb the case is signed 'KIGU of London' in gilt lettering. The crimson velvet base has fitted compartments for the 'Flippy' (lipstick holder and mirror) and the compact. The model of compact is the slimline 'Venus' loose powder compact. This gift set can be seen in the Kigu 1963 'Compacts of Character' catalogue. All clasps and hinges on the accessories and case work perfectly. The mirror on the compact and 'Flippy' give excellent reflections. The original puff and sifter are in place. The foil Kigu guarantee tag is present too.
The 'Venus' powder compact measures 3" and weighs 87 grams.
The 'Flippy' lipstick holder and mirror measures 4 1/4 (when fully extended and weighs 29.1 grams.
The comb and comb holder measure 4 1/2 " and weigh 44 grams.
All of the accessories bear the Kigu signature.
