A wonderful antique nickel plated Stratnoid foil powder compact. The lid has a design of a girl in a red dress with white trim on the hem & cuffs skating on a frozen lake in winter. The foil is such a good material for this scene & conveys the icy winter weather with the clear blue sky. In the distance snow covered buildings & trees can be seen as well as other skaters. This foil lid is protected by a celluloid cover. A delightful antique compact showing a traditional English winter scene. All clasps & hinges work perfectly & the mirror is very good & gives an excellent reflection. The powder well is fitted with an inner lid which rotates on a central pivot - all in good working order. The compact is signed 'STRATNOID REG. DESIGN No 767198 MADE IN ENGLAND'.The base is decorated with wavy vertical lines & inscribed 'MADE IN ENGLAND'.
This antique foil compact is ideal for 10th anniversary gifts as pre WWII foil in England was tin foil.
This Stratnoid measures 2" & weighs 38 grams.
