It shows an attractive celluloid lid of SS Mona's Queen at sea. SS (RMS) Mona's Queen was a ship built for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company in 1934. She was lost when she struck a mine off Dunkirk on May 29, 1940. The lid is in very good condition as is the whole compact. The case opens easily to show the fan-shaped inner lid which rotates to allow access to powder. Everything works perfectly.
The inner lid is signed 'REG. DESIGN. No 767198 STATNOID MADE IN ENGLAND. The polished steel mirror is good with a few signs of wear. The base is decorated with wavy parallel lines & an oblong in the middle. Measures 2" X 2" & weighs 48 grams.
