Established in 2012, our principal aims of sourcing high quality pieces and providing excellent customer service have paved the way for The Vintage Compact Shop to become one of the most reputable online venues for antique & vintage vanities, jewellery & accessories. We have thousands of delighted customers worldwide.
We are dedicated to sourcing outstanding hallmarked gold, silver, rare collectibles and accessories, all of which are authenticated and shipped with literature which details its history. We provide lavishly illustrated historical fact packs, which document the history of the makers and also that of the item/s purchased. We are committed to offering a customer service which is second to none. To date all of our shipments have reached their final destinations without incident. We include luxurious free gift boxes & gift tags as standard with each order.

For our UK customers we offer next working day delivery. Purchase before 11 am to guarantee UK delivery the next working day before 1 pm.

We are happy to work with film, television / theatre companies, museum curators & journalists who wish to feature vanities & collectibles. We study the history of antique & vintage collectibles and so we have access to many archives. This means that we can guide you in your search for authentic film props and accessories.
We offer a free personal shopper service for all customers. Not every item we have is listed on this site. Feel free to make enquires. Prop masters often find this service saves them lots of time browsing the site.
Our vesta case section was showcased in The Financial Times How To Spend It article (September 2017). We collaborated with F.T. journalist Mark C O'Flaherty by providing the history of match safes he wished to feature from our collection.

Danielle Boyd is a gold, silver and vanities specialist with a particular interest in the history of silversmiths and vanities manufacturers. Every item purchased is shipped with its own lavishly illustrated history written by Danielle or Eleanor. We aim to never duplicate information. For example when a returning customer purchases another item from the same maker they will receive another history. This enables collectors to build up a 'library' of their favourite makers. All our blog posts are written by either Danielle or Eleanor.
In 2018 Danielle collaborated with Melody Amsel-Arieli, who is the author of Vintage compacts reflecting changing styles which featured in Antiques Trader (1 December 2018).
In 2018 Danielle & Eleanor collaborated with Christopher Proudlove, who was formerly Head of Press and a Senior Director of Sotheby’s in London and most recently a Board Director and Group Head of Press at Bonhams. Christopher Proudlove's article Pretty compact for a stunning collection featured in the Antiques Fair article which was seen in The Birmingham Post (4 October 2018). This article was also published in 12 Trinity Mirror regional newspapers, such as the Manchester Evening News.

We are members of ASCAS (Association of Small Collectors of Antique Silver) & the BCCS (British Compact Collectors Society).
We have an international customer base. The Vintage Compact Shop is based in England.
Please note that we do not offer a free valuation, dating / identification service to members of the public regarding their own collections etc.
We do not buy from private sellers because it is too time consuming.

Julie Carter's article The Retro Glamour of Kigu Compacts appears in Antiques and Collectibles For Pleasure & Profit Spring 2020 issue. Our Kigu collection is featured.
